Weskus Waters sits at 54A Elizabeth East Street, Port Owen — a quiet marina village on the eastern bank of the Berg River, just where it opens into the Atlantic. Port Owen is part of the greater Velddrif area, a town that's been living off the river for generations.

The Berg River is one of the best fishing rivers on the West Coast. Cast from the bank or take a boat out — harders, kabeljou, and steenbras are all in season at different times of year. The property has secure boat parking and easy water access.

Velddrif is the bokkoms capital of South Africa. These intensely salted, dried harders (mullet) are a West Coast institution — love them or hate them, they're part of the fabric of this place. Visit the bokkoms factories along the river to see the process firsthand.

One of South Africa's most beautiful lagoons — flat, turquoise water sheltered from the Atlantic swell. Perfect for swimming, paddleboarding, and kite surfing. The town of Langebaan has good restaurants and a relaxed holiday vibe.

Langebaan is world-renowned for kite surfing — consistent south-easter winds and flat lagoon water make it one of the best spots in the southern hemisphere. Lessons and equipment hire are available in town.

The park borders the Langebaan Lagoon and is home to extraordinary fynbos, birdlife, and in spring (August–September), one of the most spectacular wildflower displays in the world. The Postberg section opens only during flower season.

Southern right whales visit the West Coast from June to November, often coming remarkably close to shore. Spot them from the beach at Langebaan or take a boat trip from Saldanha Bay for a closer look.
July to October is peak season. Binoculars are handy from the stoep on a calm day.
